First Month Home Visit
Our desire is to establish a trusting relationship and partnership between home and school. In order to establish this trust, your child’s teacher will request a home visit with you during the first month of school. If you are not comfortable with a home visit, you can request to meet with the teacher at a different location (i.e. park, school). This time together will allow the teacher learn more about you and your child, learn your about your family needs, and understand goals for your child’s success.
Communication
We value in keeping our lines of communication open between home and school. We currently use the Procare app for daily communication. The Front Office will be able to answer most questions you may have. For specific questions regarding your student, please be patient in response time - our teachers' primary role during the school day is supervision of our students. Our teachers will provide you an answer at their earliest convenience. We will keep you posted on school activities and events through weekly newsletters, flyers and email correspondences.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
The first month home visit will serve as an initial parent/teacher conference. During the Spring semester, a Student Report will be prepared about your child's progress. Parent/Teacher Conferences can be set up as needed or requested. At the end of May, a written year-end report will be sent home. Parent/Teacher Conferences can be requested at that time as well. There will be a sign up sheet to indicate the most convenient time to meet with the teacher. If you desire to meet with your child’s teacher or director at any time, please feel free to ask for a conference.
We use the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP 2015) which is a formative assessment instrument developed by the California Department of Education for young children and their families to be used to inform instruction and program development.

Open Door Policy
Gateway Preschool Academy has an open door policy. We welcome parents to visit, volunteer and assist during special activities and celebrations. If you plan to visit, please let the director or teacher know in advance. At the time of your visit, please log in your name on our Visitor Log Book and wear a “Visitor” badge during your visit.
Field Trips & Transportation Arrangement
Field trips may include a walk around the neighborhood, a local park, or museum. Signed permission slips will be required to authorize children to participate in field trips. A valid license and insurance coverage are needed to provide transportation.
